GRC Manufacturing and Logistics

GRC Manufacturing and Logistics

Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) is typically manufactured in individual bespoke sections, by adding glass fibre to concrete mix, which is done by a machine. In a similar manner to steel reinforced concrete, the fibres provide additional strength to the concrete but the material is not susceptible to historic degradation issues such as rust.

Custom shaped moulds can be created to accurately replicate any mutually agreed design. We produce a variety of UV-stable product shades and finishes employing tried and tested methodology. This permits exciting freedom and flexibility from an architectural perspective.

As a GRCA ‘AMS’ member, one of just a handful of companies nationwide to hold this status, GB Architectural Products are proud to be considered one of the most established manufacturers and suppliers of Grade 18 Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete cladding products, leading the way throughout the UK and Europe.

GRC created to this specification is, unequivocally, proven to have provided the very highest levels of client satisfaction and long term performance under actual service conditions for more than 35 years.

In addition to the AMS standards, we have our own in-house quality control guidelines, factory controls and procedures which every product must adhere to, and these incorporate all the tests required within the GRCA and AMS specification. These include:

BS EN 1170 – Parts 1-7

  • Measuring the consistency of the matrix – Slump Test Method.
  • Measuring the fibre content in fresh GRC – Wash Out Test
  • Measuring the fibre content of sprayed GRC
  • Measuring bending strength “LOP”
  • Measuring bending strength “MOR”
  • Determination of the absorption of water by immersion and determination of the dry density
  • Measurement of extremes of dimensional variations due to moisture content.

BS EN 1169:1999

  • Rules for factory production control of glass-fibre reinforced cement

Every stage of our GRC manufacturing process is undertaken on site at our Head Office and manufacturing facilities in Liversedge, West Yorkshire.

GRC Cladding Logistics

Having manufactured GRC cladding elements for over 20 years, we have considerable experience in relation to the crucial logistical element of ensuring that your products arrive on site on time exactly when they are needed and in the perfect condition in which they left us.

We pack all of our finished panels sequentially, to ensure that the installers receive their GRC products for available areas of the development. This, combined with our detailed packing logs, also allows for the installation team to call forward the product for delivery in the efficient and helpful way.

This means that there is little to no redistribution required, and alleviates the potential for products to go missing or receive impact damage during the delivery process or whilst stored on site.
